Niramaya: A School of Yoga Education for Holistic Well-being
Niramaya, a dedicated School of Yoga Education, commenced its journey in 2016 as a non-profit organization under the wings of the “”NIRAMAYA”” Charitable Trust, officially registered in 2019. Driven by the motto “”Be well, spread wellness,”” Niramaya tirelessly conducts a variety of courses, classes, awareness programs, and workshops encompassing both traditional and advanced yogic practices. In collaboration with various yoga institutions and associations, Niramaya actively promotes courses accredited by the Yoga Certification Board (YCB).
The organization’s name, “”Niramaya,”” was thoughtfully bestowed by Dr. Ajit Kumar Bhattacharjee, an eminent medical professional from Barak Valley with Shatakshi Bhattacharjee as the Director. The institution’s establishment was inspired by the profound teachings of globally renowned spiritual masters such as the late Swami Sivananda Saraswati, Yoga Guru the late Radhesh Chandra Chakraborty (Founder of Katirail Yoga Center, Assam), and the late Nilotpol Choudhury (former Executive Director, Dainik Jugsankha Patrika). Niramaya’s governing board comprises eight distinguished individuals from diverse fields, whose constructive contributions have been instrumental in the organization’s success and its mission to raise awareness about the importance of yoga through significant events and courses.
The mission is to cultivate holistic development within the people of Barak Valley and South Assam (North-East) by raising awareness about the profound benefits of yogic practices. The aim is to achieve this by promoting yoga in urban, suburban, and rural areas, while simultaneously building a dedicated team of experienced teachers to disseminate yoga’s philosophy far and wide. Furthermore, they are committed to advancing the field through research and actively promoting the activities and courses offered by the Yoga Certification Board (YCB) under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. The efforts include conducting voluntary regular sessions in remote schools, colleges, and community centres, specifically addressing the physical and mental health challenges faced by the urban population due to unhealthy lifestyles, ultimately working to support and promote widespread yoga practice.
Niramaya offers an extensive array of yoga courses, catering to all levels from beginners to advanced practitioners. These include Yoga Teacher Training Courses (YTTC) at 200-hour and 300-hour levels, alongside government-recognized programs like Yoga Volunteer (YV), Yoga Protocol Instructor (YPI), Yoga Wellness Instructor (YWI), and Yoga Teacher & Evaluator (YT_E). They also provide specialized combo courses (e.g., YTTC 200-hour + YPI 200-hour), stress management certification, kids’ yoga, meditation, and various certificate and diploma courses in Yogic Science and Wellness.
