This Guru Purnima, our team had the privilege of joining
Sanyukta Yoga for a deeply meaningful celebration
that brought together practitioners, teachers and seekers to honour
the timeless Guru-Shishya Parampara and reflect on
the spiritual principles that guide our practice.
The 4 Gurus We Meet in Life
During the event, Dr. Ruchi Gulati Ji, Founder of Sanyukta Yoga,
shared an insightful perspective on how the concept of a “Guru”
evolves as we grow through different stages of life.

The Sacred Significance of Guru Paduka
A central highlight of the session was a deep exploration of
the significance of the Guru Paduka — the
sacred footwear of the teacher.
In traditional ashram settings, the Paduka is revered as a
symbol of the Guru's presence, wisdom and spiritual lineage.
It represents the enduring connection between the teacher,
the disciple and the spiritual tradition.
During Guru Purnima, disciples express their reverence through
Abhishekam, a sacred washing ritual using
Ganga Jal, rose water, milk and fresh rose petals.
When a Guru leaves the physical body, the Paduka remains a
sacred symbol of the lineage, carrying forward its tradition
and spiritual grace through generations.
One Prayer. One Sankalpa. Universal Healing.
The celebration concluded with a quiet yet powerful moment
of shared mindfulness.
Participants joined hands for a collective
one-minute Sankalpa, directing their
intention towards universal healing and well-being.
When we come together with a selfless intention,
prayer becomes a shared expression of compassion.

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुर्विष्णुः
गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ।
गुरुः साक्षात् परब्रह्म
तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः ॥
“The Guru is the creator, the preserver and the transformer —
the direct expression of Supreme Consciousness. I bow with
reverence to that great teacher.”
Honouring the Living Roots of Yoga
Celebrations like these remind us that yoga is more than a
physical practice. Its roots are deeply connected with
tradition, wisdom, discipline, devotion and the relationship
between teacher and student.
