The Practice Room: Your Gateway to Authentic Iyengar Yoga in Bangalore
The Practice Room stands as a dedicated and well-established yoga studio in Bangalore, renowned for offering instruction in the precise and traditional style of yoga pioneered by the late Shri B.K.S. Iyengar. Since its establishment in 2013, the studio has been committed to maintaining the integrity and depth of this lineage. Located next to a park in a picturesque and serene setting, The Practice Room offers a calm and focused environment that is conducive to deep, mindful practice. The studio’s commitment to quality is upheld by its primary instructor, Ms. Jaya Chakravarty, who is an Iyengar accredited teacher, ensuring students receive expert and authentic guidance throughout their yoga journey.
The core principle of Iyengar Yoga is the meticulous attention to detail and precise body alignment, often utilizing props to help students achieve the correct posture. To initiate new practitioners into this specific tradition, The Practice Room offers the Orientation to Iyengar Yoga program. This essential in-studio, on-boarding course is designed to serve as a comprehensive foundation.
The Orientation program is explicitly structured for three groups: absolute beginners to asana (posture) practice; individuals who are looking to re-start a physical practice after a significant break; and those who have practiced asanas in other yoga traditions but are new to the Iyengar method. The program is mandatory for most new admissions, ensuring that every student entering the regular Foundation and higher-level classes has a proper understanding of the core principles of Iyengar yoga. This initial commitment to alignment and technique sets students up for an exciting, safe, and effective lifelong journey of body, mind, and breath-based learning within the Iyengar tradition.
