History of Hansa Ji

Hansa Ji was born on October 8, 1947, in Vile Parle, Mumbai, India. She graduated with a degree in science from Mithibai College, Mumbai. Later, she completed the law degree from the Government Law College in Mumbai. She was always drawn towards Yoga as a result, she completed her Yoga teacher training course at The Yoga Institute. It is a government-recognized non-profit organization and the oldest organized yoga center in the world, founded in 1918, by Shri Yogendra Ji.

At The Yoga Institute she met Dr Jayadeva Yogendra and later got married to. Since then, she has played a pivotal role in shaping the offerings of The Yoga Institute with her dynamic and radiant personality. Later she went on to become the director of The Yoga Institute.

Along with being a Yoga guru, Hansaji is an accomplished author, researcher and TV personality. She presented the television series Yoga for Better Living, aired on DD National in the 1980s. She has authored many wellnesses related articles in leading newspapers. She is the chair of the Yoga Certification Committee for the Quality Council of India (QCI) and President of the International Board of Yoga. She is the President of the Indian Yoga Association.

Her works include Yoga Daily Planner – Heart Care (1990), which offers a structured approach to heart health through yoga, and Yogic Life-Cure of Asthma and Bronchitis (1992), a guide for managing respiratory conditions. In Pregnancy, Parenthood and Yoga (1991), she explores the role of yoga in the journey of pregnancy and raising children. Dincharya (1997) emphasizes the importance of daily routines, while Yoga for Back and Joint Disorders (1997) provides solutions for common physical ailments. Her books Recipes for Happiness: Yogic Lifestyle Diet (2002) and Recipes for Happiness (2001) delve into the importance of diet for a balanced and fulfilling life. Additionally, Yogic Life-Control of Diabetes (1992) focuses on managing diabetes through the principles of yoga. Her books How to Reverse Heart Disease the Yogic Way-Research, (2004) and Yoga Sutras talk by Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra and Smt. Hansaji (2017) delve deep into the cure for heart diseases and Yoga Sutras. These books reflect her commitment to promoting holistic well-being through yoga and lifestyle adjustments.
