And one should not just miss the fine delicacies of Coimbatore the Kongunadu Biryani, the Paniyavarams, the Elaneer Payasam, Halwa, and Mysorepak, other than the Ghee Roast Dosa and Idli Wada Sambhar.
Coimbatore has a tropical wet and dry climate. Summers with temperatures ranging from 30°C to 40°C (86°F to 104°F) are hot (duration March to May). Monsoons (June to September) bring moderate to heavy rainfall, making the weather pleasant. Winters (October to February) are mild and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).

 

  • Coimbatore has very good connectivity to all transportation channels. Coimbatore International Airport and Coimbatore Junction are the major transportation hubs.
  • It is advisable to carry light and comfortable clothing, sunscreen and mosquito repellent while visiting Coimbatore.

  • Siruvani Waterfalls: Located about 35 kilometres from Coimbatore, it is a scenic waterfall nestled in the forested hills.
  • Black Thunder: A popular water theme park near Mettupalayam, offering water rides, amusement activities and entertainment options.
The local modes of transportation are autorickshaws, cab services, and public transportation buses. One should avoid travelling during peak hours to avoid heavy traffic.

Local Attractions

If you happen to visit during the festival season, do experience the four-day celebrations of Pongal in January. There are vibrant traditions and festivities throughout the year which include the famous Koniamman temple car festival celebrated on the 1st March of each year, the Panguni Uthiram in the month of March/ April, the Mariamman Festival in autumn, and the Karthikai Deepam in November/December.
