The Indian Yoga Association (IYA) is a self-regulatory body of Leading Yoga Organisations of India. Founded under the legendary Yogi Padma Vibhushan, Late Yogacharya BKS Iyengar ji. IYA was established on 31st October 2008, approved by the Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India. IYA has taken the initiation to make IYA PrCB (Personnel Certification Body) approved by the Yoga Certification Board. The students getting certification from IYA are recognized by YCB. This certificate holds significant credibility and provides a formal, structured pathway for a yoga career.
The IYA is dedicated to maintaining and promoting various Indian yoga traditions through extensive fundamental and clinical research, to serve the socio-economic needs of all parts of society. It also works to spread knowledge of yoga by holding conferences, seminars, workshops, and public meetings both within India and internationally. A key part of its mission is the certification of yoga professionals and schools, ensuring quality and standards in the practice and teaching of yoga.

Each membership has different eligibility criteria, for example, “Yoga Professional Member” or “Yog Prashikshak” is a yoga professional who is duly certified as a yoga professional by a member institution of the Indian Yoga Association or any other statutory or non-statutory body. A copy of the certification would be required for confirmation of the Membership. The fee for Yoga Professional Membership is INR 1000/- for Indian Nationals and SAARC Nationals and USD 250/- for Foreign Nationals.

IYA also provides membership opportunities for students. There are different types of membership, such as Yoga Professional Member, Yoga Volunteer Member, and Life Member. Each membership has different eligibility criteria, fee structure and set of benefits. For example, “Yoga Professional Member” or “Yog Prashikshak would be provided a Unique ID, an ID Card and get added to the universal directory of IYA. Apart from this, they would be provided with an e-newsletter to keep updated about the Yoga world every month from IYA.
