At 2am we drove down to Mumbai and took an early morning flight to Goa.

How will be Goa? Especially after having seen all these traditional Indian yoga places… We’ve been to Goa before, but not for yoga – it will be our first experience of yoga in Goa. How will it be like? “Well, let’s see!”, we told each other, without any prejudices.

We did not have any fixed appointment, as too many centres in Goa were on our observation list and it is always difficult to judge them beforehand. Spontaneously, we knocked at the door of the Yogamagic Eco Retreat, near Anjuna, in North Goa. We were a bit early, but after waiting an hour we were invited to stay at their beautiful retreat . Great food, a beautiful setting with a swimming pool, a big stylish tent to sleep in, and eco toilets and warm solar showers – a comfort level we were no longer used to.

Phil, the founder, told us about his own spiritual approach and the years spent building up this yoga retreat. The afternoon yoga class by Helen was attended by very few, and the level was very basic, for beginners.
