History of Sri
T.K.V. Desikacharya:

Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, Sri Desikacharya’s father, is considered one of the most influential figures in the revival of yoga in the 20th century. Born on June 21, 1938, in Mysore, India, Sri T.K.V. Desikacharya was fortunate to be born into a family steeped in the ancient wisdom of yoga. Under the guidance of his father, he received a comprehensive education in yoga philosophy, asana practice, pranayama and other aspects of yoga. Sri Desikacharya’s mission was to carry forward his father’s teachings while integrating his own insights and experiences.

He founded the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) in Chennai, India, dedicated to preserving and disseminating the teachings of Krishnamacharya and Viniyoga.
