Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, born Nirmala Shrivastava on March 21, 1923, in Chhindwara, India, started her journey early in life. Born into a Christian family, her name, Nirmala, meant “immaculate.”
While her parents were involved in India’s independence struggle, young Shri Mataji managed the household. Recognised by Mahatma Gandhi as a spiritual prodigy, she began her spiritual work on May 5, 1970, at 47. Dedicated to offering genuine self-realisation, she developed a method to help people transform and heal themselves on a large scale.
Sahaja Yoga meditation, taught by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, is a simple technique designed to sustain the natural awakening experienced during self-realisation.
