Lakshmi Andiappan Yoga Therapy Centre: A Legacy of Therapeutic Yoga Excellence
The Lakshmi Andiappan Yoga Therapy Centre originated from a deep-rooted tradition of yogic and medical wisdom, initially operating under the umbrella of Dr. Asana’s Yoga Therapy and Research Centre, founded by Lakshmi Andiappan ji’s father. In 2007, Lakshmi ji established her independent centre in T Nagar, Chennai, with a distinct focus on the management of diseases and disorders through therapeutic Hatha Yoga, specifically applying the principles of Vatha, Pitta, and Kapha. The centre expanded its reach in 2017 with additional branches in Velachery and Vadapalani, further solidifying its reputation for specialized yoga therapy services.
The institute is highly regarded for its comprehensive courses in anatomy yoga, yoga therapy, and naturopathy, holding accreditations from both state and central governments. In 2024, the centre achieved significant recognition for its contribution to international yoga education, with Lakshmi Andiappan ji herself taking on the pivotal role of lead trainer.
Lakshmi ji’s personal journey began with early training from her father and competitive excellence in yoga across India. Beyond her yogic prowess, she possesses a profound passion for Carnatic music, earning multiple accolades for her musical talents. Her expertise in prenatal, postnatal, and therapeutic yoga has garnered international acclaim, leading her to conduct workshops and teacher training courses globally in locations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, and Sri Lanka. She is a familiar face on various Indian television channels and even the Tamil channel Vanvil in London, sharing her extensive knowledge.
Her influence extends beyond traditional yoga settings. Lakshmi ji collaborates with esteemed universities like Dr. MGR University, YMCA, and TN Physical Education and Sports University as a guest lecturer for MSC and MPhil programs in Yoga. She has also designed tailored yoga programs for corporate giants including Wipro, HCL, TCS, and Cognizant, as well as for healthcare professionals at Venkateshwara Hospital and police personnel at the Police Training College in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, she serves as a guest lecturer for public schools such as the Velammal Group of Schools and collaborates with institutions like PSBB, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, and Chennai Public School.
The centre also champions community outreach through the Lakshmi Andiappan Yoga Community (LAYC), a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to making yoga accessible to individuals who cannot afford classes or have special needs, embodying a commitment to sharing yoga’s benefits widely.
