We took a taxi to Lonavla (also spelled Lonavale), a small city and hill station in the district of Pune (state of Maharashtra).\u00a0Besides being\u00a0a popular weekend hangout for Mumbai residents, Lonavla is also home to\u00a0Kaivalyadhama Ashram<\/a>, a well-known\u00a0yoga educational institute.<\/p>\n

We said goodbye to Heide,\u00a0our German journalist was joining us for a bit more than\u00a02 weeks now.\u00a0Thank you\u00a0Heide for these two weeks of voluntary work for our book\u00a0project ‘Yoga in India’.\u00a0While Heide continued to Mumbay to take her flight back to Germany,\u00a0Coni and I went on to explore the yoga institute.<\/p>\n

Dr. Tiwari,\u00a0the director,\u00a0welcomed us to Kaivalyadhama,\u00a0and gave us an overview on the many programmes offered by the various departments: health care\u00a0courses, naturopathy, P.G. Diploma in Yoga Education (P.G.D.Y.Ed.), P.G.\u00a0Diploma in Yoga Therapy (P.G.D.Y.T.), Certificate Course in Yoga\u00a0(C.C.Y.), Advanced Teacher Training Course in Yoga (A.T.T.C.), ayurvedic treatments, research activities, and much more…<\/p>\n
